The undergraduate curriculum offers students the opportunity to acquire a deep conceptual understanding of the basic principles of physics and an appreciation of a wide range of physical problems of current interest and the capacity to solve problems. Physics students are encouraged to go beyond course work and become involved in research projects under the mentorship of faculty members.
The Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics offers a flexible program that allows students to combine the study of physics with the opportunity to do intensive work in substantive areas such as liberal arts, teaching, business or law. The Physics B.A. degree is especially recommended for students who plan to double major with another department in the College of Arts and Sciences.
The Bachelor of Science degree in Physics give students the opportunity to study advanced topics in physics and other natural science fields. The Physics B.S. degree provides a solid foundation for students wishing to go on to graduate work in physics, applied science or engineering. Adelphi’s program also serves as excellent preparation for careers in teaching and government or industry research and development.
